Summer Fun 2012
Below you will find our schedule of Summer Fun Activities starting the first week of June. Please feel free to either print the schedule out and bring to Scout Hall this evening (filled out with all the events your scout wants to do) or pick up a copy at Scout Hall and fill out then. Remember, we are going to need LOTS of drivers to come along to chaperone and have fun with our scouts! June 8th - 10th: Lake Allatoona Camping Weekend
This two 1/2 day weekend event will give scouts the opportunity to earn one of three merit badges; Small Boat Sailing, Life Saving, or Canoeing. Only one merit badge may be selected. The classes have limited space so register early to get a spot in the class. No changes are allowed. The deadline is May, 9th so please get your form in early as we have a limited number of slots available for this event. Also please note there are requirements that must be met for some of badges. There are no exceptions to these. Please read the following details for each as there are some pre-requisites:
- A current medical form is required - there are no exceptions.
- All classes require each scout pass the BSA swim test. This will be conducted Saturday morning.
We will leave Scout Hall Friday afternoon at 3:00pm and travel to the beautiful Scout Camp located on Lake Allatoona. Call David Bell with any questions at 404-320-1981.

Summer Camp 2012
Woodruff Scout Reservation: July 8th - 14th, 2012
Summer Camp means more in a Scout's life than all the meetings in the year put together. The days in camp mean physical fitness, fellowship, and fun. Scouts will have the opportunity to complfete requirements for rank advancement, earn merit badges, and participate in several fun troop activities.
We are signed up for the week of July 8th - 14th, 2012. We will meet Sunday morning, July 8th, 2012 at 8:00am in the parking lot of Oak Grove Elementary School (NOT SCOUT HALL). We will check in at camp at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 8th, and check out at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th.

Please fill out the Registration Form and return it to Scout Hall with the first payment of $150 on or before March 7th. The balance of $165 is due by June 6th, 2012. You may also opt to pay the full amount when you register.
Be sure to consult with Scoutmaster Brad Gilmer or Fred Turner in advance about camp schedules, first year Scout courses ("Mountain Man"), and merit badge class signups.

Upcoming Merit Badge Opportunities
There are numerous Eagle and regular merit badges that can be earned around Atlanta in classes listed on the document linked below. Check the age/rank requirements to make sure that your scout is qualified to attend the class. Also make sure that there are seats available.

Remember, to get started on a merit badge, you must acquire a "blue card" with the Scoutmaster's signature.
Note: It is a good idea to make periodic photocopies of both sides of the partially completed blue card. These cards are the only record the Scout or the Troop has of the work the Scout has done toward the merit badge. Any lost requirement records will have to be done again!
